The following report was sent to Rae Burnett, Africa Director for Christian Aid Mission, by Gabriel Barau, the leader of Missionary Crusaders Ministries in Nigeria. The Jos community, still in recovery mode from Januarys violence, was awakened at 2 a.m. on March 7 by Fulani Muslims who set fire to houses and vehicles, and butchered or shot those who tried to escape. They killed over 500 people, mostly women and children. Read more.

"We need to train missionaries and send them to rural areas," urges a leader of a ministry in Sri Lanka, "those called to reach the unreached with the gospel of Christ." In the beginning an accredited teacher went from village to village preaching the gospel, as well as teaching and discipling new believers. In time, others who shared his vision joined him. Together, they traveled about presenting teaching seminars and conferences for rural pastors. Read more.

Some 2 million people in Chile were affected in one way or another by the fifth most powerful earthquake in the last 100 years. The strong tremors began early Saturday morning with an 8.8 magnitude quake followed by more than 90 aftershocks. As of Monday, March 1 over 700 people were reported dead, with more than 540 deaths in the Maule region, along the southern coast. It was reported that over 500,000 homes sustained considerable damage. Read more.

Thanks to gifts from concerned friends in the United States, construction has begun on replacement housing in some flood-ravaged villages of South India. The aid was given as Christian Aid supporters responded to appeals for help during terrible flooding there last fall. Read more.

She has traveled hundreds of thousands of miles over land, sea, and air, penetrating the depths of this dark continent to find indigenous ministries which are reaching those in their nations who have never heard the gospel.
