Children's Camps Reach Ukraine Youth: March 2007
With help from Christian Aid, Good Samaritan Mission L’viv, located in Ukraine, was able to organize camps for 100 older children in 2006. About 25 of them were brought closer to the Lord during the camp, and many accepted Jesus as their Savior. After the camps, several teenagers were moved by God to start actively participating in different ministries, such as visiting the sick and weak, and ministering to street kids and orphans.
One group of teenagers now organizes regular evangelistic street outreaches for younger children. They play games, sing songs, and preach the gospel. “You are doing an invaluable job,” said one child’s mother. “These kids don’t know how to play or spend time in a fruitful way.” Most of them wander aimlessly and often turn to drugs and gambling. Now up to 60 non-Christian kids come to the outreaches every other Sunday. Many parents hear the gospel through their children.
Support sent from Christian Aid is also used by Good Samaritan Mission L’viv to help children living in three public orphanages. During the current school year, two groups of about 20 children each come from one orphanage to church, where they are taught how to live and grow as Christians. This month another group is starting.
